To note, the 50-year-old director often gets trolled on social media for multiple reasons. From being called the 'flag bearer of nepotism' to getting trolled for his fashion sense and for discussing celebrities' sex lives on Koffee With Karan 7, KJo time and again comes to the receiving end. In the last episode of his chat show, Karan Johar admitted he battled anxiety issues due to online hate and trolling and that he took therapy for the same, five years ago.  “There was an anxiety issue that I combatted 5 years ago and that was when I really opened up. So, at least I started talking about this fact to people because I was not even telling people that I was in therapy and that I was going through an issue of anxiety for 3 or 4 years,” Karan had said.

In terms of work, his recent release 'Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva' starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor received a mixed reaction from audiences. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the fantasy drama was jointly bankrolled by Dharma Productions.
